15 Days in India
Earlier this year my 19-year-old son Wes and I decided, pretty much on the spur of the moment, to go on a 15 day whirlwind trip across India.
Of course, India is a photographer’s dream but I quickly realised that there wouldn’t be a lot of time to stop and ‘admire the view’ plus I was travelling with a 19 year old, whose threshold for hanging around whilst I looked for the perfect shot was a little on the low side.
Thus, I made the decision that the photography should reflect not only the trip but also India itself. So, I bought a well-worn second-hand travel camera and shot everything on the move. Out of taxi windows and on helter-skelter rickshaws rides. In the chaos of crowds and whilst dodging the traffic. Also, I decided on one other rule. No ‘touristy’ shots.
And these are some of the photographs I took on the journey - a record of 15 crazy days and the assault on the senses that is India.
